What started as a glass factory in Iittala, Finland, today celebrates generations of essential objects that are made to enrich people’s everyday lives. Iittala believes objects should be distinctive, combinable and multi-functional, with lasting design that inspires individual use and expression.
The Aalto Vase dates back to 1936 and was first presented at the Paris World Fair the following year. Its fluid, organic form is still mouth blown today at the Iittala factory. It takes a team of seven skilled craftsmen working as one to create one Aalto vase – an icon of modern design.
2020 sees the introduction of a new colour of the year Linen. Inspiration for iitttala's new colour comes from the swaying fields of flax. This nuetral colour has depth and duality - it can be casual, but also feels sophisticated. it is a perfect pair for many other colours.
