Marimekko is a Finnish design house celebrated worldwide for its original prints and colours. Founded in 1951 by a visionary woman Armi Ratia, Marimekko is said to be one of the world's first real lifestyle brands combining fashion, bags and accessories as well as home decoration into one unique point of view.
"Over the years, we have remained true to our original mission of bringing joy to everyday moments. Through our timeless, distinctive and functional designs, we want to empower people to be happy as they are: to live their lives as they desire and to express their personality boldly through the way that they dress themselves and their homes."
Nature was a significant source of inspiration for Maija Isola throughout her career. Flowers in different styles were a frequently appearing motif in her designs year after year - in the expresive Ruukku [pot] pattern from 1970, she painted an inviting, undulating sea of flowers.
Made from heavyweight cotton, this oven mitten features the Ruuku pattern. The oven mitten has a padded filling and a hanging loop. A baker´s best friend has to be able to take the heat. There's no reason it can't look tasty, too: a Ruukku ovenmit is a classic choice for the kitchen.
2021 sees the 70th Anniversary of Marimekko. This Ruukku design is part of the collection to celebrate this significant milestone!
