Marimekko is a Finnish design house celebrated worldwide for its original prints and colours. Founded in 1951 by a visionary woman Armi Ratia, Marimekko is said to be one of the world's first real lifestyle brands combining fashion, bags and accessories as well as home decoration into one unique point of view.
"Over the years, we have remained true to our original mission of bringing joy to everyday moments. Through our timeless, distinctive and functional designs, we want to empower people to be happy as they are: to live their lives as they desire and to express their personality boldly through the way that they dress themselves and their homes."
The Oiva coffee cup has no handle and it features the Ruudut pattern. The cup is made of dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer safe white stoneware.
Enjoyment of coffee is affected not only by the aroma and freshness of the brew, but by the aesthetics and shape of the cup. We think this Marimekko cup featuring the Ruudut print serves up a delicious cup. This set is packed in the 70th anniversary year packaging.
Four designers were invited to create an abstract nature themed pattern using paper cut-outs for an ensemble representing the multifaceted nature of Marimekko. The Ruudut (squares) print is a collage based on the sketches received from the designers.
2021 sees the 70th Anniversary of Marimekko. This Ruudut design is part of the collection to celebrate this significant milestone!
