What started as a glass factory in Iittala, Finland, today celebrates generations of essential objects that are made to enrich people’s everyday lives. Iittala believes objects should be distinctive, combinable and multi-functional, with lasting design that inspires individual use and expression.
In one of his purest realisations, Kartio glass, Kaj Franck captures the perfect balance between the material and the geometric form. Simple, yet durable enough for everyday use, Franck mastered the creation of the basic drinking glass, which is a legendary design beyond any trend. The wide and versatile colour palette of Kartio perfectly represents Iittala’s knowledge of coloured glass.
2020 sees the introduction of a new colour of the year Linen. Inspiration for iitttala's new colour comes from the swaying fields of flax. This nuetral colour has depth and duality - it can be casual, but also feels sophisticated. it is a perfect pair for many other colours.
